Introducing the Wise Women | 50 Over 50 Portrait Experience
Hello, friends — I’m so delighted you’re here. As some of you know may know, this past September marked a milestone for me. Not just another birthday, but the “Big One” – yep, I celebrated 50 beautiful years of life on this earth a few weeks ago. It was a fantastic celebration, including meals with friends and family, thoughtful gifts, and an 8-day Bahamian and Caribbean cruise with my one and only - pure bliss!!! (Please enjoy the (cell phone) photos from our trip scattered throughout this post!)
Rather than seeing this birthday as being “officially old”, I’m embracing it as an invitation — an invitation to celebrate something deeper, richer, and more personal: the beauty, strength, and stories of women over 50.
Enjoying our first formal night with a special vintage.
I’m the woman behind Amanda Faucett Photography, and over the years I’ve been privileged to step into family moments, senior milestones, business and branding portraits, and more. But for my 50th, I’m doing something different, something meaningful: the 50 Over 50 Portrait Experience. It’s a project born out of my belief that women over 50 — in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond — deserve to be seen, heard, honored, and celebrated in ways that go beyond the industry’s usual narratives.
First Port: Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas. I kayaked 2 miles round trip! Sadly, my hubby had to work during this excursion…yes, even on vacation. (Rest of the group not pictured, haha)
Why this matters
I’m sure you’ve noticed that we live in a culture that often sidelines the “midlife” woman: in media, in fashion, in beauty, in the stories we tell. Too often, the messaging can feel like once you pass a certain age you become invisible or less relevant. But I don’t believe that. I believe quite the opposite.
Turning 50 is not about decline — it’s about accumulation. It’s about wisdom, experience, character, resilience, all of which deserve spotlight and celebration.
In creating this campaign, I wanted to give you the chance to be in that spotlight. The “Wise Women - 50 Over 50 Portrait Experience” is more than a photoshoot. It’s a curated, thoughtful moment — wardrobe & styling consultation, professional hair & makeup, a luxury session designed to let you show up as your beautifully authentic self, with one fine art portrait included. It’s about you being seen exactly as you are, with a little extra polish; with all your stories, your beauty, your lines, your laughter and your years.
My Story Behind this campaign
Why am I doing this? Because turning 50 means something to me. It means recognizing that arrival doesn’t mean endpoint. It means leaning in. It means acknowledging that all the years — the twists, the triumphs, the losses, the mistakes, the growth — matter and that they have shaped the person I am. And because I see so many women around me — clients, friends, families, women I admire — who are navigating this stage of life and yet often feel under-represented, under-celebrated, I wanted to create a space and a platform for them.
And of course, as a portrait photographer based in Houston (serving the greater Houston area since 2010), I wanted it to look and feel luxurious, personal, and timeless. That’s been the heart of my work all along: classic portraits with a modern mood, honest emotion, and meaningful portrait art for your home that highlights your legacy and lasts for generations.
what to expect
We sailed on Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, which boasts several different “neighborhoods”, or themed areas around the ship. Central Park, one of our favorites, features an entire deck full of live plants and charming walking paths, and is home to specialty restaurants and luxury shopping. Jazz ensembles also make evening appearances.
If you choose to participate, here’s what the experience will include:
A one-on-one consultation to plan your shoot… how you want to be photographed, your wardrobe, and your vision (with pro tips from me). We’ll also chat about how you might want to display and enjoy your new portraits in your home…the ones that will make you smile every time you walk by.
Professional hair and makeup to help you feel confident, polished, camera-ready.
A styled photo session where we’ll capture you — your story, your beauty, your energy — in a way that reflects you rather than fitting a generic mold.
An ordering session where you’ll view your images, pick your gifted portrait, and choose your additional art pieces.
Inclusion in a gallery-style exhibition celebrating all the women in the series — this isn’t just about one moment, it’s about collective celebration and visibility. My hope is that it will feel fun, releasing, affirming, and maybe even a little transformative.
who this is for
Women over 50 (and yes — if you’re in your 60s, 70s, or beyond, you are absolutely invited).
Women who may feel under-represented in traditional media or the portrait world.
Women who appreciate a luxury experience and heirloom-quality, fine art portrait art…and recognize the value of being seen, pampered, and honored in this way.
Women ready to celebrate this chapter of their lives — not as an afterthought, but as a centerpiece.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’d love a portrait of me that feels like me,” or “I want to mark this stage of life in a meaningful way”, then this is for you.
Delighting in the beauty of the Seven Color Lagoon in Balacar, Mexico (Costa Maya port) and not caring about the “midlife midsection” that is finding its way around my middle, haha!
a personal invitation
I’d love for you to join me. Whether you’re thinking of booking, or simply want to learn more, I’m here and I’d be honored to talk. Visit the campaign page to explore details.
And if you’re reading this and thinking of a friend who might love this, someone who deserves to be celebrated — please share this with her. The more women we include, the richer the story becomes.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me — both as a photographer and as someone entering this next chapter. Here’s to turning 50 with intention, authenticity, beauty, and visibility. And here’s to celebrating you — in all your wisdom, your years, your radiant presence.
With great excitement,
Amanda
